I just decided to cash out for 25.00 since the points are at a stand still, and then got to thinking and looked up some prices on RV's. They have some really nice ones for 100,000...wow I knew they were expensive and I was ready for about 200,000, but that is still a long haul to save up for. Thank goodness we have lots of years left to think about what we will need when the time comes.
We have talked for years well from the very beginning that this would be something that we would both want to do in our golden years. Sure hope we are able to, but with the prices they way they are there is no way that anyone in their Golden years will be able to afford this kind of things unless things change for the better. Oh well it is a goal, and a little escape for a few minutes.
Do you own a RV? If so do you have any tips?

(what's wrong with a tent!!!!)
We're actually planning to take several cruises in the next few years (after our remodeling....LOL!)......I am already starting to plan a Disney cruise to Alaska for our family, as hubby's always wanted to go there.......I figure he's put in 33 long, hard years, providing a great living for our family.....now it's time to have fun, fun, fun and travel!!!!! My dream is to travel to Israel and Italy........actually an "around the world" cruise.......LOL!!!!!
I've even started a special "vacation" account for that reason only.......am hoping that we can take the Alaskan cruise next year, in August, for my birthday and our anniversary.....
We are really loving "retirement"...........hoping to eventually have every room of our house totally remodeled (although next time, we will hire only "professionals" and never relatives/family again......don't want the "jerk" coming back!) and then travel and travel more....thank God, we're all in remarkably good health!!!
I see soooooo many homes (especially in the very wealthy areas of the city/suburbs) that have huge RVs.......but they just sit in the yard and never move....which is sad.
If too small, for inside activities for a few days, get a larger one.
ALso, make sure that ALL appliance run off of gas. You may NOT have an electric port in some spots, and haveing an ac that runs on lp gas can keep your goose from being cooked.
Walker and I (both almost blind!) prefer hotels. Nice thing about those is that no matter how bad our vision gets, we can still use 'em. LOL
RV instead. Pretty decent movie to rent.
Good luck with the relaxing.
however, i do not think i'd do it again......due to gas prices and crowding, etc.......now, ii would get one of the conversion vans with a mini kitchen, and mostly stay in motels....
Assuming you purchase a $100K RV financed for 15 years at 5%, and you travel 5,000 miles each year paying $4/gal (8 miles/gal). The total annual cost of insurance, monthly payments and gas will run about $13K.
You can rent a nice RV for $300 a day plus gas.
Something to think about.
No RV, but good luck!
